Operation Ellamy, Libya 2011
This scene depicts a specific battle in Libya 2011 when 4 AH Apaches were involved in a serious conflict over the port of Brega. With Triple A’s, Tracer and missiles targeting them, the four Apaches went on to complete their mission and safely return back to HMS Ocean. The painting shows the scene at night with no moon, with the foreground Apache shooting off its flares.
The original painting was commissioned by the Army Air Corps and is now hanging in the Officer’s Mess at Wattisham.
